I have worked closely with Greg Brogan for the past five years. Greg began with Foster's in 1997 with a commission to overhaul the remuneration systems across the group. This task was completed inside the agreed two year period during which time Greg emerged as an influential member of the company's leadership group. The systems implemented during Greg's tenure in that role are still recognised as the most sweeping and far reaching remuneration changes ever implemented at Foster's and continue to be used today. Principally as a result of the changes implemented by Greg and his team, the Foster's Group now has a genuine and unique performance based culture the envy of many listed companies both here and overseas.

In 1999 Greg was promoted to Vice President, Group Information Technology, reporting to me in my capacity at the time of CFO. Over the following three years Greg again drew upon his considerable leadership capability to transform the Group's IT personnel from what was a disparate group of operational technocrats to a highly efficient, integrated team with significant strategic impact on the direction of the Foster's group. These changes came at a time when technology had the potential to destroy large traditional companies such as ours. The investments made on the advice of Greg and his team, however, have proved to be permanently beneficial and are still in use today. These include the complete overhaul of our communications, messaging, and collaboration software and infrastructure, the design and implementation of our online business capability and the overhaul of our ERP systems.

It was with considerable regret that, three years later, on Greg's advice, we restructured the IT capacity of the group and Greg's role disappeared.
