PBR Software

The PBRTM software has been designed to facilitate bonus and fixed pay decision making at annual review time. The system proceeds on the basis that corporate performance levels dictate the size of a Group-wide incentive pool. That pool is Allocated to Business Units, Divisions, Departments and smaller teams on the basis of relative performance, assessed with reference to pre-determined targets and objectives, preferably as evidenced in a Balanced Score Card or equivalent. The Allocation process results in a pool to be distributed to the team members and Direct reports in the form of a bonus.

 

The system uses standard workflow and approval protocols with a unique performance decision calculator - the user simply indicates the spread (wide, narrow and some in between) and her assessment of the relative performance (excellent, unsatisfactory and some in between). She then considers the system generated recommendations and, having done so, inputs her decision. All calculations are related back to the Grade-based target bonus at every point in the process.

 

The simplicity of the visible decision making framework belies the complexity of the underlying calculations. It is not possible to blow the budget (from within the system) even though there is no forced ranking of performance ratings. By using PBRTM , the Annual Remuneration Review becomes a structured, efficient process which supports the strategic imperatives of the business. The days of dread surrounding the yearly crisis are over. This is how annual remuneration reviews will be undertaken from now on.
